Has anyone else been experiencing time outs when your search includes wildcards in the surname(s) field and you specify the year (s) for the new release dates?
I have been timed out since Dec 31, each time that I have included an * or ? in the surname; however, today, I decided enough of that, I will try putting in the full surname, and what do you know...it practically zipped through the search process and got some hits. Now of course this meant doing multiple searches for various Mc and Mac starts to a surname...and let's not even go there with the possible endings!
Any ideas on what is happening?

Hi Gail
I don't know the answer, but I suspect it might be because SP is very busy just now - as you know, new data has just been released and many people are on holiday with a bit of time to spend on their research. Any wildcard search is going to take longer than a straight forward name search anyway, due to the greater amount of data which would match the criteria, but at this time of year it will be even slower. Maybe hibernate for a week or so and try again once most of us are back at work and the rush on the new data has died down a bit....only joking (about the hibernation ......leaving it for a week, if you can bear to do so, will probably work!
)
Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Gail,
I've been having the same problem! I expect it's just a few teething problems with the new records they have added to the database.
It'll all settle down soon (typed with fingers crossed - very difficult
