Carruthers and Scottish Border families

Post by GaryCarruthers » Sun Apr 13, 2008 3:23 am

Hi Folks,

One of the most famous books relating to the Carruthers and associated Scottish Border families can be found at the following site. This book was written by Rev. Arthur Stanley Carruthers and his associate R.C. Reid early last century, given access to the Carruthers of Holmains family chest. It mainly deals with abt 11th century up to early 1800s but follows abt 35 individual branches of the early Carruthers family with charts included. You can view a copy of the index online for free. Ive had an original copy of this book for about 30 years and can recommend it. Best to ask for a cd to be sent as the download is huge. (The book is over 200 pages).

Best wishes

Records of the Carruthers Family

Post by GaryCarruthers » Fri Jun 13, 2008 10:55 pm

Hi Liz,
Ive checked with the website owner who had the "Records of the Carruthers Family" on his site and he advises that he no longer maintains that site. I will speak to the moderator of this site and see if he is interested in displaying the Index of that book.
Regards

Gary - at least we caught it early! I've got some borders ancestors (Rutherfords) and was interested in the general area.
