Hi to Cathy Hatfield - winslowsmom

I noticed you had a photo of Jessie Mcdonald on the gallery. I have a Jessie Mcdonald.

Just wondered (and I know Jessie Mcdonald is a common name)

what is her dob and where was she born?

regards

Helen

Hi there Helen

I hope you're making progress in your family research. I noticed you hadn't had a reply to your message - it's posible that Cathy hasn't seen it. Have you tried sending a PM to her?

Cheers.

Hi Helen,
Liz was right, I hadn't seen your message about Jessie McDonald.
My Jessie is my mother's granny.
She is Janet Jeffery McDonald born 21 September 1879 in Glasgow and died December 1940 in Boston, Massachusetts.
Her father was John McDonald born 1854 at 66 High street, Glasgow.
His father was William McDonald born 1818 Edinburgh and died 1899 Glasgow who was married to Janet Jeffrey.

Lets compare notes further. Even if this doesn't look like your Jessie, we could have siblings that named children for Jessie, etc.
If you like, PM me with your regular e mail address and I can send you more files.

I have a William McDonald born 24 Aug 1857 who I cant find but knnow he had 4 kids - one of them could be a Jessie.
I also have James, John and Robert born in the 1880s/90s who could have children named Jessie.
Again, sorry for the delay in responding, and thank you Liz for updating the page so I noticed it. Lets hope, McDonald rellies need all the help we can get!!

thank you Liz for your reply. After I posted my message I thought it was a wee bit silly. How many Jessie McDonalds are there after all, and when Cathy did not respond I just put it out of my mind, so I was very surprised and pleased you replied. Imagine how much more I was surprised whe Cathy got back to me.
Cathy, my Jessie was born in Dalzell in 1877. Her parents were Adam and Ann, she had sisters called Catherine and Margaret. Brothers called James and John (my grandad) Adam was a blacksmith in Peebles and I have managed to trace his grandparents back to Skye? So it does not look as if there are any links to your Jessie after all.
Once again, thank you so much to you both for getting back to me.
