Rifleman Hugh McCREADIE

Post by q98 » Sat Jul 05, 2008 4:43 am

Specifically seeking Service No. and Unit/Regiment of my great-uncle, Rifleman Hugh McCREADIE (b. 29 Apr 1902, Ardrossan, Ayrshire, Scotland d. 8 Aug 1957, Dunedin). In probably 1935 (Marriage Ref. 4157) at Dunedin, he married Elizabeth May LOCKHART (b. c 1904, Wigton, Scotland d. 11 Oct 1949, Dunedin, NZ).

Both are buried in Andersons Bay Cemetery, Block 202, Plot 0028. Any information relating to their marriage (Marriage Ref. 4157) would also be greatly appreciated. Can anyone assist?

Regards and thanks

Hello Jim,

On GenesReunited http://www.genesreunited.com/ there’s someone called James who has listed a Hugh McCreadie born 1901, Ardrossan. A search for just the surname born New Zealand brings up the same Hugh as well as an Allister born 1941 also submitted by James.

Assuming the James isn’t your good self maybe there’s a useful contact there with the info you’re after.

Alan

Aye Alan thanks, that GR entry is mine when I was a member.
Have searched:
http://www.aucklandmuseum.com
http://www.nzdf.mil.nz/personnel-records/archives.htm "page cannot be found"

Still searching for Service No. and Unit/Regiment.

Thanks again.

Jim

Thanks for that link Alan. Very pleasing to note that "Enquires about deceased former servicemen and women" Application Form there are no charges incurred for FIRST individual file.

Tks mate.

Looks like one free file per year, that’s excellent Jim. Even my budget could handle that.
