I have a Patrick McGinn on a birth document in 1857. He gives his address as 6 Bell Street, Calton. Thinking he might still be around in 1861, and perhaps at the same address so I could follow him up (I'm not sure where he fits in), I searched on SP but there is not a Patrick McGinn in Calton, but in 1861 the likely looking candidates are:
MCGINN PATRICK age 34 HIGH CHURCH GLASGOW/LANARK 644/02 079/02 006
MCGINN PATRICK age 42 TRADESTON GLASGOW/LANARK 644/09 063/09 020
MCGINN PATRICK age 38 CLYDE GLASGOW/LANARK 644/05 025/05 009
...since the library is shut at this hour (!), if any kind soul has access to Ancestry, could they please see if any of the above Patricks are actually at 6 Bell Street?
I have no age, or place of birth for the chap. (though I'd put money on it being Ireland) The address he gives in 1857 is my only reference point.
Calton is adjacent to Clyde & High Church...but of course he may have moved between '57 and '61.... indeed he may not even be in Glasgow by then
Best wishes
Lesley
p.s. I don't think he is the one who married Susan Frew in 1858 - seemed about right so I downloaded it, but none of the parents names are ringing a bell, and he says he is a "cousin" in 1857, so I'm expecting to see at least something that looks familiar.
