Look up please, William Campbell, born 1877 Scotland, occupation Mariner.
Married Ada Newbown, aged 20 in Sculcoate's Hull Yorkshire 21/12/1903, William then aged 26.
William's farther John Campbell born Scotland, occupation Carpenter, died bfr 1903.
witness's to the marriage A Campbell and G E Melton.
These people could have been family? or shipmates of William's?.
Only other information I have is that William may have had links to Northumberland?
William died 1927 in Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire.
He was still a Mariner sailing with the whaling fleet.
It is thought that Williams kin may have emigrated to Canada, again dates unknow.
Any lead no matter how small will help a grandson find William's rightfull home.... many thank's
Help find a lost scot? .....

Sorry no, the only information I have is what was on Williams wedding cert. (a copy)
I believe he had brother's?, and maybe sisters?, becaues they all went to Canada.., date unknown.
My farther Arthur Campbell was only around 10 years old when his farther died from influenza in 1927, but always told me his dad William was Scottish and proud of the fact.
This make's me think that William was born in 1877 Scotland, and move to Northumberland where he was brought up?.
This could have been before the 1881 census or after?
He may have joined the Merchant Navy there?
My only hope is that there is a John Campbell, who's occupation was a carpenter.., and not a, "joiner". who died before 1903?.
Who may have had a son or brother named A Campbell.
Not much to go on I'm affraid.., but at the moment its all I have.
My other line of inquiry concerns Williams wife Ada Newbown.., her family moved to Canada as well, again dates unknow. (1902-1927?)
This makes me think that both side's where in contact with each other, maybe in both Canada and the Uk.
So again any leads no matter how small will help narrow my search
Regards

Hi Eribus
I wish you much luck with this search as it really is a needle in a haystack way of going about it! If you could find your Campbells together in Canada and find the same clump together on an early census of Scotland or England it might work.....but the odds really are not in your favor!! That said though....here are the most interesting finds of John Campbell/Carpenter from the 1881 (Note these are both in the Lowland section with none looking likely in the Highland Section)

My only hope is to follow each John Campbell, that has a son William, who dies before 1903.
John, being a popular name, the same as William.........?
William would have been 4-5 years old in 1881, he was 49 when he died the 27th of Febuery 1927.
The first address I have for him and his wife Ada is 18 Gibson Street, Sculcoats Hull...1903.
Followed by, 96 Balfour Street Hull..... 1924... 1927.
Williams wife Ada may the have moved to, Arundel Street in.. 1927- 1928, after Williams death... and then on to College Grove, Kingston upon Hull... bfr 1936.
I did hope to find William in the Merchant Navy rolls based on this information, but the Uk.gov in it's wisdom destroyed most of it's records, only keeping 10%, the rest are in some Canadian Uni.
I have some leads from the LDS.. putting a battery of John Campbell's in the Barony of Lanark... and the Corbals Lanark... each having a William born around my date.
Also John Campbell's born around 1854 to John Campbell's, plus John Campbell's with links to an A Campbell, as either farther, or son..
My haystack is getting bigger, but with a lot more needles..lol.
It is just a question of time.... someone must have a missing William Campbell.. if he is yours, you will be pleased to know William as a very large family tree below him.
Regards
