1841 Census .....

Post by marilyn morning » Fri Jul 29, 2005 12:40 am

Would greatly appreciate a look up, if anyone has the above Census.

Searching for any additional children (not listed in 1851) of John Morning b. abt 1783 in Antrim Ireland and his wife, Janet McLaughlan b. abt. 1786 in Antrim Ireland. They are listed as living on Graham Street in Johnstone, Scotland in the 1851 Census with their 8 children.

Thanks
Marilyn

Hi Marilyn!

The following MORNINGS are the only ones I found on the Abbey Parish 1841 Census. Perhaps you have the info already.

Abbey Paris Vol.9 Page 4 N) 23734
Address: Thorn
John MORNING 25 HD b RFW
Jean 20 b SCT
David 1 b RFW

Abbey Parish Vol.18 Page 2 N°25292
Address: MacDowell Street, Abbey Parish
Agnes MORNING 15 CF Throstle Framer b. RFW

Living on Macdowell Street are two or three very young Throstle Framers.

Happy Hunting

Thanks a bunch Catriona for this look up. I found a Matthew Morning age 24 (not my gg grandfather, Matthew Morning b. 1856) arriving into New York, USA in 1869 from Liverpool England. Thought he might be a part of this family??

Regards
Marilyn

P.S. I thought the passenger list said 1859, but its 1869. The hand writting is very poor.

Just had a look at Graham Street 1841

No MORNINGS but there is a Daniel MCLACHLAN 45 plus wife and family at N° 5, all born RFW and an Alexander MCGLOUGHLAN 56 plus wife and family, born Ireland, also at N° 5. Could they be related to Janet McLaughlan?

Hello Sharon

Thanks for this information. Can you tell me which direction Graham St. and McDowall St run? North to South or East to West? Which end does Grahmam St begin?

Regards
Marilyn

Hi Cationa

I'm not sure if Daniel Mclachlan is related, but I will find out

Having a look at a modern map of Johnstone will show the direction of the streets.

Try www.multimap.com put in PA5 8AA and Graham/ Mcdowell streets are at the upper left of the map.
