1851 census help

Post by steiner » Sun Jun 14, 2009 12:38 pm

Marion Watson ms Brown died in Eaglesham 1855 aged 87

Husband James Watson seems to be still living at the time. I cannot find them on 1841 or 51 census. They married in 1795 iN Kippen, Stirlingshire but no idea where they were born

Could someone check the 51 and maybe 41 - in case I've missed them?

many thanks

Piece: SCT1841/623 Place: Biggar -Lanarkshire Enumeration District: 3
Civil Parish: Biggar Ecclesiastical Parish, Village or Island: -
Folio: 3 Page: 2
Address: Westrow

Surname First name(s) Sex Age Occupation Where Born Remarks
WATSON James M 64 Mason Lanarkshire
WATSON Marion F 65 Lanarkshire

Hopefully you know James's occupation to confirm or not. Marions' death entry should give you where she was born.:?

That couple are still at the same address in 1851. James age 75. Marrion 80.

I see their son John lived at Eaglesham in 1851.

Annette

Thanks Annette. I don't know the occupation but on the death certificate dated 1855 it says resident in Eaglesham for 2 years

Any 1855 death I've seen gives place of birth in the same column. Pity it doesn't give James's occupation.

There is a death entry of a James Watson also at Eaglesham in 1855 - have you looked at that?

Yes I've looked at the 1855 death it's not the right James. I reckon he probably died In Lanarkshire because after 1855 the rest of the family seems to have moved into Glasgow.

I dont think there are any other Marion Watson's aged over 75 - 85 in the 1851 census?
