Hi Keith
Welcome to Talking Scot :D
So that we can try to help, can you please give us some indication of dates? Do you know her first name at all? Any names for the children?

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Keith,

I found Janet McElwee's marriage cert. on SP. She married John Stevenson Thomson on November 21, 1918 in the Parish of Dalziel. I can't read the place name, but it is Craig something Manse, Craig something.

Her father is given as Joesph McElwee Sculptor deceased and her mother is Margaret McElwee, subsequently McAulay ms. Currie.

Janet was 21 and a munition worker. John was 20 and a Private 3rd Battalion Highland Light Infantry.

Carol :D
Looking for: Clerihew, Longmuir/Longmore, Chalmers, Milne, Barclay in Newhills,

Hi Keith
You will be able to download a copy of Janet's original marriage entry which Carol found from the Scotlands People web site: www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

You'll need to wait until the 1911 census is out by the looks of things, before you can see the family in Scotland, if they were here by then. It will be available in 2011. In the meantime it would be worth visiting the Irish census project at the National Archives of Ireland site to look at those who stayed in Ireland and perhaps the whole family together in 1901. Both the 1911 and 1901 census will be there soon, being released bit by bit:

Best wishes

Thanks Andrew,

I'm just not that familiar with Lanarkshire to start guessing at the names there!
