early birth records

Post by GillianC » Tue Sep 08, 2009 6:55 pm

Hi

I am looking at a birth record from 1825, it has name of parents then a column for 'born' then 'baptised'. for Robert it has a '1' in born, does anyone know it is the 1 referring to the date? he was baptised on 11.12 which makes me think he was born 1/12. spoke to some others who think it may be first born.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi GillianC,

Welcome to TalkingScot. [scotland-flag]

Without seeing the document, I can't be sure, but the first thing that popped into my head was also first born child.

Regards,

Just a thought, but what are the chances he was a twin - i.e. 1 of 2?

Hi Gillian
..and a warm welcome to Talking Scot. :D
Can you give us a name and place for this birth?
We'd really need to see it I think, to be able to come to any conclusion.

Best wishes
Lesley
