Help please

Hi to all at TS,

I am looking for help in finding the birth details of Annie Rodgers (sometimes Rogers) .She married John Purcell in 1904 in the Gorbals she is 21 he is 26. This would make her born c. 1883.
Her parents are Patrick Rogers and Ann Grandison married 21/8/1874 St Francis chapel Cumberland St Hutchesontown Glasgow.
On the 1881 census they are at 34 Hallside St Govan Lanark
Patrick Rodgers head age 30 Carter born Glasgow
Ann " wife age 26 born Glasgow
John " son 1 born Glasgow

Why i know it is them is because also on this census page is John Fitzgerald who was a witness on the marriage cert.

I thought i had her on the 1891 census but it was not the right Anne - age was right (8) but father William and mother Margaret. I also tried for Patrick but only one came up age 24 in Dennistoun. I am trying Ro*gers which brings up both spellings.
On the 1901 census i have them again but minus Annie as by this time she had left the house.
Patrick 50
Anne 44
Margaret 12
William 9
Patrick think it is 6 as it has been circled by pencil.

All above born in Glasgow Lanarkshire.
As there seems to be a gap between Patrick and Annie getting married (1874) and the firstborn child John in 1881 i have been looking at infant Ro*gers deaths between 1874 and 1881 but there are so many in the Glasgow area, it could be they had a few infant deaths before John.
Anyway i will not confuse matters more, but maybe someone with fresh eyes could have a look.

Hi Ailsa,
They have lost the final 's' in 1891. I assume mother Ann's age is supposed to be 35, rather than 25.

I have been focusing on 1883 for some reason and there are a few of both years! Do you know if the Naburn address comes under Govan parish, if so i will check it.

All I know is that for the 1891 census 147 Naburn St was in:
Registration District: Hutchesontown
Civil Parish: Glasgow Govan

In 1881 they were at 34 Hallside St, which was in:
Registration district: Hutchesontown
Civli Parish: Glasgow Hutchesontown

There are two possible births in Glasgow City: Hutchesontown, both in 1883. Assume you have looked at those, though? One is Rodger and one is Rodgers

Naburn Street was under the Parish of Govan, but in reality it's Hutchisontown/Gorbals area.

It was just to the west of the Southern Necropolis, but has vanished beneath modern flats and a school playing field.

I'd go for that one too. especially as their name is given as Rodger (without the s) in 1891.

Although..........................
The other choice is 1883 RODGERS ANN BRIDGETTA F HUTCHESONTOWN GLASGOW CITY/LANARK 644/11 0079 Entry 79 is early in the year which would make this one age 8 in the 1891 census same as Annie daughter of Patrick. Daughter of Hugh and Mary at reg 644/11 in 1891 is shown as age 7 when the census was taken so perhaps born later in the year.

Ann was born 3/1/1883 at 18 Hallside St - father Patrick mother Ann Grandison - It is Ann Bridgetta on the cert which is quite unusual i think.

Thanks for helping me decide as it always helps to have an input even if the final decision is mine. Usually someone on TS is right!
