I have been tracing my great grandmother Mary McKenna who I believe was born in Scotland in 1855 but to no avail. Her parents are Alexander McKenna and Mary Anne Copeland.
I have found a death for Alexander McKenna. It states born 1831 Liverpool and died 1891 Toxteth Park, Lancashire.
What certificate do I need to get that will show the names of his children as I am hoping that he is the father of Mary.
I have had a look at a sample of a English Death Certificate and it does not show children's names

Re: What is the best Certificate to get.
Hi Jenny
There are no English certificates that show the names of children other than a birth certificate showing the name of the child being registered. I have found children on 1855 Scotland death certificates and death certificates for many of the Australian states - but not on English certificates.
The only chance to find a child on an English death certificate is if the child is an informant on the certificate. The census records are the best option for showing children in English records.
