Hello everyone,
Can anybody help me with some census returns for Scotland? after 1912 my ancestors come from Larne in Northern Ireland and I am trying to trace any places that they may have started from in Scotland and any other children that they may have had there.
I am looking for a Andrew McCrea (sometimes splet Mcrae/McCrae) his wife was Mary McCrea formerly Leith from Ballymena, I know they had one son David Leith/Leath Mcrae born 26 Nov 1890, 1 Argyle St, Maryhill, Glasgow. and another Samuel Wilson Mcrae born 29 Jan 1900, I can't make the address out but again Maryhill, 10 Gaingroud ave? Glasgow. I would love too find out more about my family there, as I can't even find death records for the said two sons!!
Very many thanks for your help on this matter.
John McCrea.

Re: Census?
Can't be 100% but there I don't see any sign of them before that. But then again I didn't expect there to be as they were married in 1886 at Ireland and their first 2 children were born there.JMac wrote:Hi Annette,

Thanks once again for your help.
I know that all apart from Andrew the husband returned to Larne where he died in 1937, I don't know for sure but I am thinking that maybe they "split up" because Mary his wife and as far as I know 2 daughters died in Corpach Inverness, while no trace have I found of the 2 boys.
Best wishes
John.

Re: Andrew McCrea
Have you searched for wills for both husband and wife? That might tell you where their children were.

If Mary is the one who died at Inverness in 1951 then perhaps she left Ireland after Andrew died. Did the daughters marry at Scotland?

Re: Census?
Hi Annette,
As far as I understand Andrew went back to Larne (Ireland) where Andrew Died, because this was the only death record that I could find for a Andrew McCrea (Belfast reg office) was one in Larne for 23 Jan 1937, one of his daughters married in Scotland, "Janet" married in the same year 11 Dec 1937 and her fathers name was mentioned and listed as dead, so to me that date would fit.
best wishes
John McCrea.
