1911 census

Post by Joan 65 » Tue Dec 14, 2010 1:24 am

Hello everyone,

I have not posted for quite some time, nice to be back.
Would it be possible for someone to do a look-up for me, on the 1911 census??
I am searching for my GFather, GMother, and family.

GEORGE SMYTH dob 1875-1880
Eliza Jane - or- Lizzie - or - Elizabeth Smyth dob 1881
Martha Smyth dob 1904
John Smyth dob 1906

Many thanks for all help,

Santana

Hi Santana

If you are looking for the 1911 Census of Scotland - i don't think it has been released yet. You can search the 1911 England/Wales census at no charge - but you have to pay to view the family transcript or the image. You can use the search options to find a family group by finding one member & using that name to find others

http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx?4 or http://www.findmypast.co.uk/CensusPerso ... sYear=1911

I find it easier to use the 1911 link but if you want to check the details they both use findmypast subs or pay as you go.

Trish

Edit: I haven't checked recently - but find that ancestry now has the Summary books online - I gather the rest is coming.

The release of the 1911 census is more likely to be later in April 1911 rather than, as previously, the exact 100 year anniversary of the census, and thereby the exact expiry date of the 100 year closure period.

In today's paper, the release date for the 1911 Census has been given as 5 April, 2011.

The sample as available via SP is very different to the page as given for the England/Wales 1911 - it seems to be an enumerator's summary rather than the householder forms as available for England/Wales. (Their enumerator summaries are very basic as can be seen by what is currently available through ancestry)

Does anyone know if there is a reason for the different forms/summary process
