Beattie/Watt - Can't find in 1911

Post by caljam371 » Thu Apr 14, 2011 9:57 pm

I'm looking for -

Betsy Beattie, b. 1881, Ferryden, Angus
Son - Albert Beattie, B. 1909, Montrose, Angus
Husband - David Watt, b. 1886, Dun, Angus

Betsy and David married in Montrose in December 1910. They had a child in Montrose in November 1911. I cannot find them in 1911. Albert is not with his maternal grandmother (grandfather dead).

I have done the following searches -

Surname: "WATT"; Surname Option: Wildcard; Forename: "DAVID"; Forename Option: Wildcard; Sex: "Any"; Age From: 23; Age To: 27; Year: 1911;

Surname: "BEATTIE"; Surname Option: Wildcard; Forename: "BETSY"; Forename Option: Prefix; Sex: "Any"; Year: 1911;

Surname: "WATT"; Surname Option: Wildcard; Forename: "BETSY"; Forename Option: Prefix; Sex: "Any"; Year: 1911;

Surname: "BEATTIE"; Surname Option: Wildcard; Forename: "ALBERT"; Forename Option: Prefix; Sex: "Any"; Year: 1911; County: "ANGUS";

Surname: "BEATTIE"; Surname Option: TraditionalSoundex; Forename: "ALBERT"; Forename Option: TraditionalSoundex; Sex: "Any"; Age From: 1; Age To: 3; Year: 1911; County: "ANGUS";

Now I have no credits left :(

Any ideas? I doubt they were abroad and nothing obvious appears on Ancestry to say they went anywhere. ](*,)

Hi Caljam,

I did a search in Montrose for Albert B and no surname. That gave one result, a 2-year old: Albert B Lunan (grandson). The grandparents have surname Lunan. Is that one a possibility?

All the best,

AndrewP

Paternal grandparents are completely unknown. These are not the maternal grandparents.

I might need to check this out when I get more credit.

Thanks!

Hi Caljam,

There is a family tree on Ancestry, the Thomson family tree, is that yours? It is for your Betsy Beattie married to David Watt. Her parents are given as John Beattie and Helen Pert. This tree shows Albert as born in 1909 with no father known.

Carol :D

David's parents are shown as James Watt and Jane Thomson.
Looking for: Clerihew, Longmuir/Longmore, Chalmers, Milne, Barclay in Newhills,
Munro, Cadenhead, Raitt, Ririe/Reary

That's the right family but it's not my tree (much of the info was copied from mine).

Annoyed I can't find the family in 1911.

This is not him as the B C shows mother is Helen Lunan and he is Albert Bowden Lunan illegitimate

Hi,
The only Albert Beattie on the 1911 Census is 16 and in DUNDEE
The only Albert Watts is 4 and also in DUNDEE but not yours as he is one of several to a Margaret and David Watts.
As for your family,they appear to have done a vanishing act!!

Hi Maureen,

I tried a search with no surname (and limited it to Montrose). After trying permutations of ages and given names there seems to be a Movatt family that fits the bill. :shock:

If it turns out to be Watt you should be able to claim some credits back. In fact if you've run out of credits why don't you email SP and explain and maybe they'll have a look.

Regards,
Annette

Hi Caljam,

FOUND THEM thanks to Annette coming up with the MOVATT name.
If you pm me I will send you a copy of the Census..
How they could transcribe it as MOVATT beats me!!
Now to SP for some credit returns AGAIN!!!!

Ooops sorry Maureen - I should have looked at the beginning of the post - I mistakenly thought it was your family.

Annette
