Re: Christmas Wishes
Greetings from Down under.
It's time for me to be heading for my bed 'cause it's close to the NZ midnight hour, but first here is what an early New Zealand newspaper published, this day 171 years ago.
The thoughts and Christmas of HOME would have been with most, but what stands out now, is the reference to "our winter hours” [though tomorrows forecast for much of New Zealand includes rain, there will still be many a Christmas barbeque].
Seasons greetings to the TS FAMILY, and all the best for the future, of you, and yours.

New Zealand Gazette and Wellington Spectator, Volume III, 24 December 1842, Page 3
CHRISTMAS.
Forget my friends!— each daily care which shadows memory's glass !
For merry. Christmas comet again, too quickly it will pass;
Then, closely draw your chairs around the bonny blazing fire,
Let mirth now reign, though grief may mourn some absent friend or sire.
Oh ! blessed is the boon ere life in clouds is sadly set,
To mingle with the friends we love, and never can forget;
Some come o'er many a weary mile to cheer out winter hours-
Hours pleasing, yet as transient as, sweet summers fading flowers.
But, if intrude a spectral train of miseries rushing on,
To cloud the brain, yet, like the mists, they fly before the sun,
Which shines with soft transient ray upon Hope's fairy stream,
While blissful thoughts of days gone by, flash on us like a dream.
Then, give a welcome blythe and free to Christmas once again
Twill cheer, O, Youth ! thy Jovial heart, 'twill soothe O Age, thy pain;
Come, young and old, come, rich and poor, upspring to her glad call.
And gather, as one family, in Joy's love-lighted hall.
