Stuck can anyone help find his parents

Iam stuck I can't find Robert Moodie 1740 - 1795 Born: Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland Died: Walls, Shetland, Scotland his wife Anne Wardlaw 1740 - 10 Sep 1841 Born: Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland Died: Scotland but I can't find his parents anywhere can anyone help or his brothers and sisters or there wives or siblings either can anyone help at all have I really come to the end of the road as far as this part of the family are concerned ??

I have read that some of the moodies that came from the fife area go back to the orckney island and some back to Ireland ?.? Is this where his parents come from I really am stuck can anyone help

What evidence do you have that Robert Moodie was born in Dunfermlne in 1740? Normally one would know this kind of information from having seen the birth entry which would usually give at least the father's name.

It was a look up on genies reunite and I have the wedding certificate of his son my direct line Robert Moodie 09 Jun 1760 - 1862 Born: Scoonie, Fifeshire, Scotland Died: Scoonie, Fifeshire, Scotland married Elizabeth Hunter 01 Oct 1768 - 1863 Born: Scoonie, Fife, Scotland Died: Scotland and my gt gt gt gt grandfather after that till it reaches my grandmother

So no I don't know if he was hundred percent born there Iam beginning to think he might not have been and feel maybe it might be the Shetland Island Orkneys or even Ireland any info on him would be fantastic as I have no idear who his parents are many many thanks

In order to be able to help and to be clear what we are looking for, we need to ask a few questions.

Can you tell us where you have looked already and where the info you already have has come from? e.g. "his wife Anne Wardlaw 1740 - 10 Sep 1841 Born: Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland Died: Scotland " This would make her 101 years old at the time of her death whch was quite unusual in those days - are you sure this is correct? Do you have note of her in the 1841 census?

When and where did the marriage of Robert Moodie and Elizabeth Hunter take place?

Given that it seems many of the events you have mentioned took place in Fife, I'd have thought the Shetlands or Orkney were less likely.

The dates you have given here also make this pair very long lived - are you sure this is correct? 102 years old and 95 years old at the time of death?
Do you have their death entries from Scotlands People? Are these the ages which are stated there?

To help you, what we need to establish first is some solid dates and what you know to be fact, and use these events as a solid base from which to try to find out more.

Sorry I believe that date of birth for robert was around 1740 and died 11july 1775 his wife Annie 1740 and died 1785 both in Walls Shetland hope this helps the later info I have for the family is correct as I have copy's of wedding certificated and parish entries from sp and backed up with igi info

Have you seen the christening entry on Scotlands People? Does it confirm he was born in 1760 Scoonie, (as you have mentoned) and christened in 1765, Dunfermline?

Robert moodie and elizabeth hunter where married in the parish of scoonie county of fife 1788 this is what is says on the copy of the parish records no I don't have christening dates but I have cencse details that sates where they lived was lambert toll lambert robert was 65 and elizibeth was 77 on the 1841 cencse does that help and yes this is my direct line
