Appreciate any help in finding WHITEHEAD, Peter Born: 1811
Ashton under Lyne Lancashire County Occ: Draper
Wife: Bridget (nee) Bridget CALAGHAN Born: 1812 Ireland
Son: John Whitehead Born: 1838
William Born: 1840
Thomas Born: 1842
I have Thomas birth cert. Immigrated to USA 1869. Settled in City of Providence - State of Rhode Island.
I've checked the BMD and can't find Peter and Bridget's marriage.
Thank you in advance for your help.

From the IGI there is a marriage for

PETER WHITEHEAD to BRIDGET GALLAGHER
Marriage: 13 JUN 1830 Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire, England

Grasping at straws.....any chance they are yours?

Jean I think they just might be. 1st son was born 1838 on 1851 but could have had children before

In 1880 Thomas, worker in a foundry, age 35 was married to Ellen, 35 born in England.

The Children, all born Rhode Island, were:

Mary 13
Deborah 10
Margaret 9
Ellen 6
William 5
Thomas 2

Strange thing is that although Mary is 13 born R.I. I can't see the family anywhere in 1870.

There is an English Thomas Whitehead of the right age, married but living away from home in Algoma, Kent County, Michigan, he was working in an iron mill.

No sign of Ellen or Mary in 1870

Thank you for your prompt response. 1870 cenus does not have him listed anywhere. He was living in Providence, Rhode Island. There is a Thomas same age in Providence but not the right family. I got this info from Providence city Directory and also births of children.

According to the 1861 census Peter was born in Eccles.

In 1871 he's a widower living with married Daughter? Ann 39 and granddaughter Mary Ann 10.

Could you please verify that Thomas married Ellen and give the childrens names if possible.

I do not have Thomas and Ellen/Helen (Farrell) Whitehead's marriage cert. Not in Rhode Island State Archives.

Deborah Jan 1870
Margaret T. 14 March 1871
Ellen 2 June 1872 Died: Prior to 1874

Address Time Line:
1865 Thomas Single Boards - Providence - R.I.
1866 1st born so married between 1865-1867
Could have married in Mass or Conn. Adjoining States

Thomas Died: 16 Feb 1920 Providence
Ellen " 3 Aug 1882 Providence
Ellen Farrell could have come from England or Ireland. Listed differently on cenus and some vital records
