14 Caledonian road, Ardrossan in 1918

Post by Marjorie 50 » Tue Oct 14, 2014 6:41 pm

My late mother Marjorie Hay was born there on 1 December 1918. I have no further background apart from her being raised by grandparents who owned or managed a pub in Ardrossan. Can anyone assist? Thank you.

Hello Marjorie 50
[TS_welcome]
I did a search on Scotland's People and there was one match, Marjorie Hay 1918 in New Ardrossan, Ayr.
You will have to order it as it is not yet available online due to date limitations (100 years for births)
regards, (or a visit to GROS if you live in Scotland).

SteaL, many thanks for that. I was hopeful that someone from the Ardrossan area might have some knowledge of the history of the local area, particularly around the public house that she was brought up in by her grandparents. I know there was no father known on her birth certificate.

Hi Marjorie 50
I would suggest the " threetowners.com " website; a site for Stevenston, Saltcoats and Ardrossan. Registration is free but NOT compulsory. It has a genealogy section where guests can post enquiries.
