John McInnes (born 1871) emigrated to Canada in 1907

Post by doddie » Sat May 30, 2015 12:09 pm

I am trying to find out what happened to John McInnes, my g.g. uncle. Her was born in Ballachulish to Allan and Sarah McInnes in 1871. In 1907, along with his younger brother Hugh (both of them slate quarriers), he sailed for Canada aboard the 'Lake Erie'. They arrived in Quebec on the 13 July 1907. I have managed to establish a comprehensive time line for Hugh who settled down in Vancouver and eventually died there in 1978. Of John there is no sign whatsoever after 1907. Perhaps he returned to Scotland but unless I have overlooked some very obvious information there seems to be no trace of John at all. All help much appreciated.

Hi Doddie,

This one looks like him:
JOHN MacINNES, son of Allan MacInnes and Sarah MacInnes (ms. MacColl), died in Ballachulish Hospital in 1951.
County: Argyll, District: Duror.

Note: on this document, they were registered as MacInnes, not McInnes.

All the best,

AndrewP

Hi Andrew, thanks for getting back to me so swiftly. Just as I thought, I must have overlooked this record. I usually check out alternative spellings. Perhaps this time I forgot. Much obliged for the feedback.

Regards
