Hello, I am looking for some help in translating some words from Gaelic. I have come across a copy of a great old photograph (late victorian period) of a group of slate quarriers taken in the quarry at Ballachulish. Below the photograph the names are listed along with their Gaelic nicknames in brackets. I have managed, with the use of various Gaelic dictionaries, to translate most of these nicknames. However, there are still a few words/phrases outstanding. The only thing to beware of is that I think that the list of names and nicknames has been transcribed from the original document and there may be some typos. This may account for the fact that I have been unable to find the words so far. The words are as follows, 'Eeideal', 'Herat', 'Moik', 'Tocan', 'Mhaoir' (which might mean a bailiff, steward or even a gravedigger), 'Reilein' and 'Slocan'. If anyone can help me out with these words I would be very grateful.
Regards
Doddie
