John McInnes/MacInnes returned from Canada c.1908

John McInnes/MacInnes (born Ballachulish 1871) left for British Columbia to work for the Pacific Slate Company Limited in July 1907. With him was his younger brother Hugh (born 1883). They sailed on the SS Lake Erie. At some point John returned to Scotland. He got married in the Ballachulish area in 1909 and died there in 1951. I have been unable to find any sign of him returning to Scotland on any of the normal passenger records. Does anybody happen to know when John returned to Scotland? John's parents were Allan McInnes/MacInnes & Sarah McColl.
