Griersons
I am trying to find some information on the Grierson clan in the Dumfries area, specifically Matthew Grierson, from Ruthwell who died aboard the Dolphin ship in Lithuania on June 12, 1779. I cannot find any information anywhere about his parents.

According to the FamilySearch Wiki there are only seven Ruthwell births recorded between 1723 and 1748. That's a birth in the parish every four years and probably means that a great number are missing from the records. https://familysearch.org/wiki/en/Ruthwe ... _Genealogy
The Dolphin was a Collier captained at that time by Roger Alderson.
