Alec McNicol
Hi am trying to find any info about my dad who died 1976. He attended Napiershall Street school till about 1959 then Woodside after that I think! He was a bit of a mod and was known as big Nikki, not much info Im afraid! I also know he was friends with a Kenny Munro guitarist and was best man at his wedding in 1970... apparently a bit of an alternative wedding at the Close Theatre where they all wore black? If anyone remembers anything of him would be grateful for any info, thanks very much.

Re: Alec McNicol
Hello toddytott, and welcome to TalkingScot.
There's a death record at ScotlandsPeople for an Alexander Archi (presumably Archibald?) McNicol, died 1976, age 28, in Glasgow. There's also a 1948 birth record.
You'll also find a 1970 Glasgow marriage of a Munro to a Lennox.
If you know the exact date of any of these events you could check the following on-line Glasgow newspapers to see if there is anything of interest. Click on “Browse this newspaper” to find relevant editions. (The search facility is usually useless).
Glasgow Herald - https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid= ... page&hl=en
Evening Times - https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid= ... page&hl=en
Hope that's useful,
Alan

Re: Alec McNicol
Have you tried some of the Facebook pages/groups about Glasgow?
There are dozens of them all focussing on different aspects, areas or eras of city life.
If his old schools have FB or web pages that could be a good place to start.

Re: Alec McNicol
Hi Wilma, yes done that too. Very little information as I say i don't know who his friends were at this time... I ve tried a few fb people but they either didnt know him or have v little info. Tried looking under fb groups from sixities, about Mods and hippies in the 60s/70s... nothing really. Have seached groups for people who say they were at school same time, but the forums these posts are on are out of date and i cant register... Any other ideas?
