1861 Census .....

Post by joette » Fri Oct 21, 2005 4:00 pm

I cant wait for the 1861 to come online. My Family History Library is closed for refurbishment at the mo so I cant even order the films if aviable.
Does anyone have access to the 1861 Dollar Clack.Census. I am looking for Alexander Waddlle-widower with John about 5 & William about 2. He may also have other children living there mainly Jean who would be about 12.I think his wife Ann had just died but maybe I have the wrong date for that Census. The name can of course vary from Waddle-my Grandpas eldest three siblings to Waddell the others.Ive seen Wedale/Wadel etc. This is when I wish I had made more use of Edinburgh when I lived near it - I felt intimidated by it all!!! Nothing intimadates me now.(well except the odd thing.) :)

WADDELL,ROSS,TORRANCE,GOVAN/DALMUIR/Clackmanannshire

ALSO BROWN,MCKIMMIE,MCDOWALL,FRASER.

All I will say is that the members of the ScotlandsPeople User Groups are currently on tenterhooks expecting an email from SP any moment giving them access to the 1861 census on a test site, following which public access on ScotlandsPeople can't be that far away .............

Youre joking I will have to wait for Friday as my card has been declined due to massive overuse on the Scotlands People site- oh well I know nobody will try to clone my card- any crook would feel sorry for me & divert funds into it instead :cry:The gods of the paupers must have been shining on me as Ive just had a purchase & a look at the 1861-more questions than answers.Poor wee children all orphaned five years later what the heck happened to them????? There are no Parish/Poorhouse Records for them & at 7,11 & 13 even then there must have been somewhere for them. :)
