That was so kind of you to find that for me.I had forgotten that I was looking for it! It does help to pinpoint the first John's Death.2nd John is born 1852.As James was born 1850& William 1847 & John is the name they are trying to keep I am guessing 1850/51.
They have a 1855 Birth which also reveals a desceased daughter but she may have been a stillbirth as I can't find any Christening for her.
Coincidentally there is a Birth on the IGI for a JOHN SCOTT/Helen VEATCH in Rox which is John's birthplace & for a Margeret which is also John's Mother's name.I was so excited until I noticed the date-1652!Only out by a hundred years.

Hi Joette,
A parent search on the online IGI shows the following children to John Scott and Helen Veitch (you may have all of these already, I don't know).
The pre-1855 ones are all extracted from the records, so should be in the OPRs.
If you can get to an LDS Family History Centre (or take a trip to Edinburgh) it may be worth a look at the Glencorse OPR microfilms as they include deaths 1820-1854 in volume 687/3. What I cannot tell you is how much or how little information they hold. They can be sparse.
All the best,
Andrew Paterson

Thanks for that I did have the info. but wasn't aware that Deaths in Glencorse were recorded too.As there is a Grave for the parents with one Grandchild maybe there will be info re the earlier deaths also. Will have a look at the film or at NRH next month.
