I realise that the majority of people would be aware of this information, but I thought I might post it just in case.

From SP dated 18 January 2005

"In preparation for the new indexes and data to be released next week we are planning a further upgrade to our database servers. As such it may be necessary to take the site offline during this work, which is scheduled for completion between 1130 and 1330 GMT, Thursday 20th January.

If you are logged in to the site when this occurs, your session will automatically be terminated.

When the site becomes available you will be able to log in again as usual.

Please note that you will not lose any credits due to the outage. Any searches that have been
undertaken will be available by clicking on "Previous Searches".

Please contact our help desk will via scotlandspeople@scotlandonline.co.uk if you have any queries regarding this.

We apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused during this work."

Also noticed, was still down at 1430 GMT.

Just be warned in advance about the outage next week. This may take a lot longer than the time that is anticipated in the outage notice.
