Help 1871? .....

Post by skaville » Sun Jan 15, 2006 12:53 pm

Hiya folks,
Does anyone have access to the 1871 census? I am trying to find my Cameron family in Glasgow. The parents were Peter(37) & Mary(35). Children should include Sarah(17), Peter(15), Mary(13), John(11) and Duncan(3).
Many thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

The 1871 census is online at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk for a fee. On searching for a name like Cameron, I would suggest that you start with Duncan (age 3). Inaccuracies of age are likely to be least in the youngest.

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

hello Mark
The 1871 census is available to view online at http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/
A quick look gives only one Peter Cameron in Glasgow aged between 36 and 38... district is Blythswood.

The district of High Church has a
Peter Cameron aged 35
Mary Cameron aged 35
Sarah Cameron aged 17
Peter Cameron aged 14
Mary Cameron aged 12
Duncan Cameron aged 3

I don't have any credits to check if they are all on the same page
There are no John Cameron's in either districts aged 11

Jim
researching
McIntyre, Menzies, Cowley, Pearson, Copland, McCammond, Forbes, Edgar etc. in Scotland
Skinner in Northumberland

Thanks for that. I am thinking it is my family. If John isnt there, he has possibly died as a child. I had better check for a death now. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
