Where is Scoonie, Fife?

Post by melody » Wed Jan 25, 2006 1:08 am

Does anyone know where Scoonie in Fife is? Also does anyone know if English death certificates ordered from the GRO include the names of the deceased parents for a death 1890-1910? Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Melody,

Scoonie, Fife is the parish / registration district that includes Leven. It can be found on the 1890s parish map http://www.nls.uk/digitallibrary/map/ea ... _list.html by selecting Sheet 40 - Kinross. Scoonie is the pink coloured parish close to the eastern edge of the map, just above the half-way line. Click on it to zoom in.

All the best,

Hello Melody,

even now, English and Welsh death certificates give no information about the deceased's parents unless one of them was the informant. There is excellent information at http://www.dixons.clara.co.uk/Certificates/indexbd.htm .
