DAVI(E)S .....

Post by rdem » Mon Jan 30, 2006 2:26 pm

I'm doing some research for a friend, looking for the parents of Milson Davis, parents names are William Davis and Elizabeth Smith from Gloucestershire. Milson gave his birth place as Gloucestershire in the 1901 census. He was a coal miner and in Scotland on the 1881 census. He married Elizabeth Stewart and died there. Milson appears to have been born about 1860.

Yes Milson Davis appears in the 1861 Census in West Dean, Gloucestershire. All of the family were born there according to the census:

Wiliam (head) born about 1822
Elisa (wife) born about 1821
William (son) born about 1849
Thomas (son) born about 1851
Sarah (daughter) born about 1853
Allice (daughter) born about 1858
Milson (son) born about 1860 [Actually recorded as 8 months old]

The head of the family is an "engine driver at the tin works" and eldest son William is a "stoker at the tin works".

The address looks like the "Smart Delf Scope Pit"
