1861 census - Redpath Mackay .....

Post by fmackay » Mon Jan 30, 2006 8:35 pm

Tried to find Redpath Mackay on 1861 census, he died in 1870 so thought I would be able to find him.
Tried all sorts of options but no joy. He was living in parish of Farr at the time with wife Barbara and 8 children all with very common names. Can't afford to use up too many credits.

Hello Fiona

I am not the best searcher of variants on SP  but i just put Red Mackay (nothing else mind you !) and one came up :!: :?:
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor
Ireland and Scotland - Casey / McDade / Phillips / McCandle / Dinely / Comaskey + various spellings

Hi Tracy
Saw that one and decided to risk 5 credits but it wasn't him!
Can't think where he would be
Thanks for trying

Just read that last posting and it didn't make much sense but you got the gist of what i was saying!!
I hate not finding answers when I know there's got to be one -another piece of the jigsaw in place.
cheers

Double success!
Listed along with Redpath and his family is is his widowed mother whom I had very little details about so at least now I can (hopefully) find her death certificate!
Happy days
