Hi, is there anyone who could look for an Andrew Russell on the 1841 or 1851 census in Paisley, Renfrewshire. He would be in his twenties at least in the 1841 census. He would be a Beamer, married to Margaret and have children Alexander, Walter or Christina. He may live at 2 Silk Street.
He isnt on 1861 census and died before 1855. Thanks to anyone who can help with it.

Hi Jason
It may be worth holding back for a couple of weeks as scotlandspeople.gov.uk hope to have, probably, the 1851 census up and running by then.
If you can't afford or are too impatient to wait that time come back to you enquiry with us.

Hi Jack
Do you think this could be the MARY RUSSELL after whom the school was named?
Now wouldn't that be a scoop for Jason?

Instead of going to the Mitchell we might meet up in Paisley while doing a little side research. I've been in from Kilbarchan a couple of times over the last fortnight and noticed the local history shelves.

Hi Russell,
My research is mostly at The Mitchell simply because they have most of the old Strathclyde area records i need under one roof.
(a number of my direct ancestors also came from Argyll, including Islay & Mull)
As you know, whilst the Paisley Library & Museum are excellent to visit, the town itself lacks a dedicated Genealogical Centre.
I certainly hope we do meet up sometime; it's always good to talk to someone with the same addiction...
Jack
ps, my GGG-G parents were Hugh Kerr & Helen Reside (born 1782 Dalry, Ayrshire - daur of William Reside & Helen Montgomerie).
Any connections?

a "beamer" is something you get when you go to the check-out & discover your bag is open & you purse gone & the supermarket calls the police& you are greetin. Then you have a flashback to that afternoon when you removed same object to check number of debit card to buy more credits on SP.
The police (luckily) laughed their heads off but I haven't returned to Sa........ yet!

Thank goodness I don't have a handbag! Mind you a sporran could be referred to as a reverse bum-bag! Sailing a bit close to the wind if somebody 'dipped' that. You might have more than a 'beamer'
Taken the wrong way it could be a case of first degree assault!!!
Jack
I hadn't realised you had Resides in your tree. One main line of my wife is Resides. Robert Reside from Johnstone previously from Penninghame b ~ 1803 in Kilmarnock.Married Jane Hunter. I wonder if there is a link somewhere?.
I have done, partially, a spreadsheet for the Resides but have not found an entry for them. We must share trees sometime to see if there is a link.
This is what TalkingScot is all about isn't it?
