Marriage / Death .....

Post by Cathy » Sun Feb 19, 2006 9:12 pm

Hi All,
any pointers gratefully received:
Seeking a marriage for Johann/John Lieser and Elizabeth Trainer.
They had children 1853-1861 North Shields / Durham.
I believe Elizabeth died between 1861 and 1863 as I have a marriage for John to Mary Burns 17 11 1863 (IGI submission.)

Cathy

Did you know the complete UK index is currently available free of charge at Ancestry. It is only indexed by quarter and page - so if you don't know the year of marriage it can take some time to find
For your John and Mary Burns, there is
1863 Dec Qtr John Lieser Carlisle 10b 650
1863 Dec Qtr Mary Burns Carlisle 10b 650

I had a quick browse of 1852 - didn't find Elizabeth

England and Wales, plus Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, but not Scotland or, for that matter, Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK, - the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northen Ireland (or United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland before 192something - too lazy to go and check :!: )

And, BTW, using the special search doesn't require browsing the quarterly indexes.

Ah David

For those of us banished to the colonies - its all the same :D

I am sure Cathy understood what I meant - being as it was a query under England - but yes, I should have said England and Wales and whoever else you tell me are included.

I'm not sure what you are talking about here. Given that the index relates to a page, one has to download the complete page & given that there are 101+ errors in the ancestry index it is often necessary to browse a number of pages to find the one you are seeking.

Thus said, I hope I haven't confused you Cathy.
