My gggrandfather Andrew Turley (b1816 Airdrie/New Monkland) married Agnes Pollock (b1821 Carnwath) they had the following children, taken from census in Douglas and Lanark.
Andrew b 1845, Stephen b 1848, Isabella b 1850, Daniel b 1852, Agnes b 1854, Ann b 1856, Mary b 1861 and Thomas b 1865. I have only proof of Mary and Thomas’s births, Mary’s birth cert states parents married 18th September 1843 at Douglas and on Thomas’s they married on the 18th May 1843 at Airdrie.
I have searched the OPR and other sources but cannot find any further information for their marriage or their children’s births. On their son Stephen’s wedding certificates he was married at Evangelistic Union Church in1870 and United Presbyterian Church in 1877 both in Lanark
I assume that the Turley’s originated from Ireland (my mother said they came from Cornwall and worked in the Tin Mines), could someone please advise me how to search the other Denominations.

Hi Maggie
I've several suggestions but can't advise you on searching in the other denominations. A search of the 1881 census shows a likely son Andrew and family in Shotts:

Note that Andrew and Stephen both state born Douglas while Daniel states born Lanark. These would seem to tie in with the migration of the family. A search on the IGI shows the birth of Anne (note with an e) as 26 Sep 1856 in Lanark. A search in the 1851 census shows just one Andrew T*r*l*y in Lanark aged 30-40 but I did not view the record. Since you know she died after 1855 a search for the death of Agnes by maiden name and married name may reveal her parents names. Once finding the death of Agnes you should be able to narrow down the death dates for Andrew and can likely discover his parents names as well. All of course based on the accuracy of the informant!
Hope this helps you add a bit more...
Best wishes
Jean

Hi JustJean
Thanks for the info but we have already got this. We have Andrew Turley and Agnes Pollocks parents from their death certs but are trying to find their wedding info among several other queries. I am waiting for the 1841 census to come on line to find where they lived and who with. As you have noticed the different spellings of Turley.
