I got the reader from my hubby's work for free. It was before the LDS IGI came on line - I paid around £200 for the whole of Scotland/Ireland and Durham IGI index.
The woman who is the co-ordinator, has been given permission from the Inverness Library to get one on loan on a long term basis.
I know you can get them from Ebay, and by doing a search on google - they range from £15 to £75 second hand, and hard to come by
If you really wanted one, try companies, who are now using computers rather than the microfiche readers - no harm in trying
I am working with another peron from Canada, at present it is only the 2 of us
