Hi Maud,
I hope you won't mind me starting a new post for Effie; less chance she'll get lost in TS too....

I have been researching my gt aunt EFFIE GRANT I discovered her on the 1881 census (for which I have the LDS discs) she was then with her paternal grandmother Euphemia Martin (previously Grant she had remarried) in Edinburgh. living in Blacket Place, St Cuthberts.
I also traced her on the 1901 census, later on when I knew she
had married, her surname was then Colven, she married Thomas Colven in 1897, in Milton Glasgow. They were then living in Anderston Glasgow
So I can complete my record about her, I would like to know where she was living in 1891, so if you have access to this census, could you do me a great favour and look for me?
her birth name was Effie, not Euphemia, I had had that suggested to me when I was searching for her marriage, she was born January 1869 in Derby.
If you can possibly do this for me, you will make an old lady very happy, thank you.

But alas, i couldn't see her in the 1891 fiche index for LKS, MLN, or WLN.
And there weren't even any 'Euphemia's aged around 23 that 'stuck out' either.
I don't suppose there's any chance Effie's marriage to Thomas Colven in 1897 was a 2nd?
Clutching at straws for different name in 1891!
Sorry i've been unable to help - i do hope someone can.

Re: Effie Grant 1891
Hi Maud,
Still nothing...can't see Effie in AYR, DNB, ELN, FIF, or STI either.
Any chance she was back home in England for a wee while?

Effie Grant
Hi,
Thank you Jack for trying to find Effie for me. It is a mystery where she was in 1891.
I don`t think I could find her in England either, but I can always have another look just in case.
I suppose its possible of course that she may have been missed out on the census, apparently it does happen sometimes.
I know that her other grandmother in Derby was already dead by then, she died in 1886, and so there would not have been any of the family then in Derby.
Its probably going to be another one of those brick walls that I come up against. Just wish I had time machine sometimes to go back and see where all my ancestors were, they have led me a right dance!
Thanks anyway for your help
