Transcription Errors .....

Post by mallog » Mon May 08, 2006 10:43 pm

It's no wonder sometimes we can't find someone we know is there. I was just trying my luck on FreeCen looking for some distant connections I had just found when I noticed some odd names. One male christian name was down as Mugh ( I take it should have been Hugh) another female was Lucky. I used my new found skill with the IGI batch numbers (!!!) and found her as Lucy.

I know it is very frustrating but unfortunatelty even when you know it's "Hugh" not "Mugh" you have to transcribe what the Enumerator wrote or your interpretation of what he wrote.
If it is a definite indexing error you can contact Freecen & let them know.
