1861 look up please!! .....

Post by delmarco » Wed May 17, 2006 4:02 am

Evening All:

Im hoping some kind soul will look up the following family:

Patrick McCallum, county Lamark, labourer approx age 50
Ann McCallum, wife, same. approx age 30's
Charles McCallum son, approx age 15-20 yrs.

Patrick died in 1868 in Cambusnethan, the D/C says that prior to his long standing disease he did not live in that parish.

Thank you,
Warm Regards
Karen
Make it a great day!

Hi Karen,
I had just enough credits left for one try... and I'm afraid I didn't pick the right one. Just want to tell folks not to waste any credits on the one in Calton District, Glasgow:

138 Gallongate, St Andrews Parish
Patrick McCallum Head 45 General Labourer, Ireland Tyrone
Hannah Do. Wife 46 Ireland Fermanagh
Catherine Do. daug 13 Ireland Tyrone

They are at the bottom of the page and I don't have any more credits to see if the family continues-- but I don't think it is the right family anyway. There were only two more that came up in my soundex search:

Patrick McCall age 48 in Springburn District, Glasgow
Patrick McCaul age 49 in Clyde district, Glasgow

Any feelings about either of these guys, Karen?
Best,
Sarah

Hi Karen,
Like Sarah i'm not picking up Patrick McCALLUM in Lanarkshire. So maybe elsewhere in Scotland?
But if you could help out with these to start with, i'll check LKS again.

You mention -
"Patrick died in 1868 in Cambusnethan, the D/C says that prior to his long standing disease he did not live in that parish"
1. Does the DC give his usual residence? An address?
2. Presume Ann is a 2nd wife. When/where married? m.s. of Ann? 1st wife's name?
3. Do you have any of the family in earlier/later censuses?
4. Any birthplaces known?
5. Are there other children?

Jack:

Hi there, Here is a litte more info on my Patrick:

death cert reads.

PAtrick McCallum, married to Ann McCulloch, died 1868, Jan 18th 1:30Am.
17 Clydesdale Rows, Northertown (M) age 55, parents Charles McCallum decease, ElizaMcCallum M.S. Hunter
Disease of Abdomen, Disease resembling dysentery of longstanding, before that he came to reside in this parish

signed by Son Charles McCallum

I know they had a daughter Bridget (my GGM)

I found that entry too on the 1861 census, cannot locate Bridget for 1861, or 1871. I know she married my GGF James McMenemy in 1872 in Wishaw,

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tootles
Karen
Make it a great day!

Hi

Have you tried to see if he is enumerated as Peter. The two names were interchangeable. I have a few Patrick/Peters who dot back and forth between the two.

Sorry can't have a look myself but as usual skint!

Hi Anne and Karen,
I'd already checked that Peter...just on the off-chance!

Karen, if this is Bridget in 1881, i wonder if your McCALLUMs were still in Ireland pre 1861; or somewhere else in Scotland?

Hi Jack:
Yes that is my Bridget, I'm, hoping someone might check this entry in 1871

Bridget McCallum 648/00 003/00 001, she is listed in Lanark age 24 although, on her marriage cert in 1872, her age is given as 14, could be that either one is a mistake or not her altogether.

They could have come to Scotland in 1872 I suppose, they were married as I said in Wishaw.

ooh I just hate these brick walls!! ](*,)

Karen

Hi Karen,
Here's that census; hope your McCALLUMs were from Donegal....
