Human Error 2

Post by mallog » Mon May 29, 2006 5:27 pm

I was trying to find Scott's in Midlothian on the 1861 Census ha ha. Thought I would be smart and cross reference the children. I think all Scott's called their children William Robert and John. Anyway picked one - wrong one ! Went to pick another and I accidently hit the wrong entry. Just my luck that a few weeks ago I cancelled the prompts because I got fed up with them - so another 5 credits down the drain. Selected the one I had meant to and the three children were the first entry on the page so I need to spend another 5 credits to find out it might be the wrong one. I give up !! They are probably not even in Midlothian.

Ma guid Scots blood sympathises with you having to spend these extra credits. But hope you haven't really decided to "give up".

I sympathise as I too have Scott's in Midlothian & right about William & JOhn though not one Robert!
It was really the Scotts that got me started.Having original Marriage Proclimation from 1824 & letters & photos plus the fact that I knew nothing about my Grandpa Scott-he died when my Dad was a young teenager piqued my interest.
Then I lived where he was born/raised & I used to go around imagining him there.
He had always said we were "sheep thieves & border reivers" which is probably true. That we were related to Walter Scott-again true just not "The" Walter Scott.
Still it has been fun proving/disproving family lore & meeting a couple of second cousins on the way has been fun too.
