We Scottish researchers are so spoiled by SP!

Post by emanday » Sat Nov 04, 2006 3:24 am

My son-in-law has asked me to try and add his (English) ancestry to my research. He would like to have the whole picture of his and my daughter's ancestry to show his own, (yet to be born) kids.

T'aint as easy as searching on SP, I'll tell you. The only advantage I have with his lot is that his surname is quite unusual, and I even found one (yes a whole ONE) on SP :D

Ah, Well! More late nights

I have to agree with you about SP emanday.I have several trees on the go for family members and I also find the Scottish search much easier than the English , Australian ,or American.(not to mention Irish ....that reminds me I still need to get that shovel).
Happy Hunting,

What makes it even worse?

My late husband had an English? born father of Maltese from Italian ancestry and a mother of Italian (father) and Greek (mother) descent. His Mum's first language was French, though, which would indicate that she was born and grew up in France (only an assumption!).

At the moment, I don't even want to try researching that line, but the day will come......

Ah, - but Metropolitain France (France métropolitaine, or just la Métropole) which is France in Europe, including Corsica, or the overseas departments and overseas territories, which, while integral parts of the French Republic, are regarded as Overseas France (la France d'outre-mer, or more colloquially les DOM-TOM, a phrase which is derived from départements d'outre-mer - territoires d'outre-mer)?

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C3%A9par ... 7outre-mer and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Territoire_d%27outre-mer .

Thanks for that David.

I can see researching his family is unlikely to be started any time soon then
