HELP!!! Ledbrannock in Lanarkshire? .....

Post by mcblondie » Fri Dec 08, 2006 5:19 pm

Hi all,

I just downloaded the 1901 census for my gg.grandparents and it states that my gg.grandmother was born in Ledbrannock, Lanarkshire yet when i google this place nothing comes up? Can anyone tell me if they have any knowledge of such a place?

Many thanks,
Katie

I entered Ledbrannock in the Ordnance Survey "Wider Search" option and it came up with Legbranock in North Lanarkshire. Here it is one this map, between Holytown and Newarthill, in North Lanarkshire.

Well ah wiz in the right direction Mary.
Ah jist hid a shuftie masel, an discovered that was the birthplace of Kier Hardy.
On the 1881 census it comes up as in Bothwell.
There are only a dozen families living in Legbrannok and three of the "heads"are given as widow of coal miner.
