Can anybody tell me what a Weaver's Agent is?

I'd imagine that the majority of home hand loom weavers had someone who arranged the selling of their product, or it could have been a go-between if they were "contracted" to supply to one person.
I understand that some of these weavers were initially provided with their looms by someone on the condition that they worked only for them. Maybe the agent measured and graded the cloth before they got paid.
