1871 Dundee .....

Post by nelmit » Mon Feb 12, 2007 5:18 pm

Can anyone find this family in 1871?

Here they are in 1881 -
Dwelling: 5 Sunnyknowe
Census Place: Dundee, Forfar, Scotland
Source: FHL Film 0203484 GRO Ref Volume 282-3 EnumDist 22 Page 3
Marr Age Sex Birthplace
Charlotte B. MC GREGOR M 24 F Dundee, Forfar, Scotland
Rel: Head
Occ: Jute Mill Worker
Lily MC GREGOR U 7 F Dundee, Forfar, Scotland
Rel: Daur
Occ: Scholar
Elizabeth BARNET M 50 F Dundee, Forfar, Scotland
Rel: Mother
Occ: Jute Mill Worker
Betsy BARNET U 22 F Dundee, Forfar, Scotland
Rel: Sister
Occ: Jute Mill Worker
William H. HUGHES U 2 M Dundee, Forfar, Scotland
Rel: Nephew

Betsy (Betsey in 1861) should be 12
Charlotte (Charlot in 1861) should be 14

Father James may or may not be with them and Elizabeth gave her age as 32 in 1861.

Fingers crossed,
Annette M

Hello Jean,

You have no idea how long I've been looking for that using many permutations - obviously Bannet wasn't one of them. :D
I was desperately hoping there would be child called David living with them. :(
Ahh well back to the drawing board.

Thanks a lot Jean.

Best wishes,
Annette

Have you tried looking for David living with a rellie? Uncle, aunt, grandparents?

Some of my lot seemed to farm their weans out willy-nilly at census time
