I would be grateful if someone could look up the 1861 census for the following
James Niven age abt 28 in the Aberdeenshire area and his wife Margaret age abt 23
and the 1871 census for Margaret Niven and her daughter Mary Niven or Jessiman or Topp.
James died in 1862 and Margaret had a daughter Mary by a William Topp(from Marys death cert) but Mary appears to possibly have been called all three names at various times.
any help would be appreciated
thanks
Norma

I found a possible match in the 1871 on Ancestry, living in Ythan Wells, Aberdeenshire. Their address is given as Hazelyden, and Margaret is listed as the head of the family and a dressmaker. The members of the household are given as follows:
Margaret Niven 33
Alexander Niven 12
Margaret Niven 9
Mary Topp 6
Barbara Shee 4
Anne Niven 1

And on the 1861, James Niven is listed as head of the family and a farmer of 25 acres employing labourers at Millburn, Forgue, Aberdeenshire.
James Niven 28
Margaret Niven 22
Alexander Niven 2
Hope that helps!
