Help with Location .....
I have added a 2 copies of the 1851 census for Denny Stirlingshire , i am trying to work out where my relatives are living.
I am interested in the Family of Stirling at the top of one page and Agnes Burns at the bottom of the other

Hi DAvid,
You have uploaded the same census page twice.
That page has households at Bankier in the Quoad Sacra parish of Haggs witthin the Quoad Civilia perish of Denny. That should make it at the southern end of Denny parish, but I have yet to see it on a map. Various results on Google suggest it was the site of a distillery.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi David,
That gave me time to find a map showing Bankier.
www.old-maps.co.uk
insert co-ordinates 273800 and 671900, then [GO]
You may need to select the Stirlingshire map if it comes up with the Dunbartonshire (a mostly blank page) one first.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi David,
Now I see your other census page is uploaded.
http://talkingscot.com/gallery/displayi ... ?pos=-1285
The place is Bonnyhead and that shows up on the same map to the south-east of Bankier Distillery.

David,
I meant to ask . . . .
Would your ancestors have any connection with Kilsyth?
The reason I ask is that there's a stone in Kilsyth Old Churchyard to:
James Lang (died 24.5.1855 aged 62)
Janet Stirling his wife (died 14.2.1880 aged 80)
Their children
William (died 8.2.1835 aged 2)
James (died 20.6.1843 aged 22)
William S. (died 8.5.1845 aged 10)
Margaret (died 26.11.1856 aged 18)
Alexander (died 23.3.1877 aged 46)
There's also another stone with James Lang and Janet Stirling with the date 1833 (I think it's 1833 anyway!)
I thought with you searching for Stirlings and your own name being Lang . . . . . ?
There are quite a lot of folk mentioned in there who came from Auchincloch/Bankier areas, probably because there was no burial areas immediately beside where they lived and Kilsyth was as near as Denny albeit in the opposite direction.
