Figure this one out? .....
I thought I'd found my chap on Ancestry, but I was wrong. However, this chap's occupation is new to me. Any ideas?

The beauty of an ancestry transcript.
I have no idea but would hazzard a guess at Locomotive Stoker. It could be anything though. If it's a match it would probably be worth viewing the original image on SP. When I had my ancestry acccount I found it really useful for searching but more often that not I had to download the original image from SP. It still though saves wasting alot of credits on searches if you have an account.

Sounds like a fairly good guess to me, especially when you see his address (albeit another milder Ancestry special
)
Address: Railway Stateon Hennottal

Bumping an older thread for a good Ancestry bit.....not finding who I'm looking for, so I need get my amusement where I can.
1871 Cookham, Berkshire, England
Yook Isapoae aged 8 months
Some kind person has added an alternate name of George Seagrove, which looks like a reasonable interpretation of the original record.

ancestry
Yes, I agree with Rab. With a subscription to ancestry, you can search as much as you like, and then go to SP to see the details.
I have at last found my grandmother in 1901. I have been looking for her for as long as the 1901 census has been available. Tying to find an Annie Kelly in Scotland was horrendous. Even giving the approximate age still left a tremendous number of results. I couldn't pin it down anywhere as I knew she was away from home working at the time, but I had no idea where. The beauty of the ancestry search meant that I could put in her place of birth and hey presto, there she was, working in Falkirk. (which, by the way was also her place of birth!!)
I'm also enjoying looking through all the WWI pension records.
Cheers

Yes Annpa,
It's an odd situation, you search for your relative over what period of time? spending how many credits? buying how many images? without success - you then search elsewhere, find her more or less instanty? return to the other source which had failed you, (for want of a better term) and quite possibly have to pay for yet another search, even though you now know exactly where she is.
Nice work if you can get it.
