Freeman apprentice

Post by Chris Paton » Wed Aug 22, 2007 11:31 am

Hi,

Can I ask the difference between an apprentice and a freeman apprentice? Was a freeman apprentice somebody who continued an indenture with a freeman of the borough after an initial indenture period, perhaps to qualify as a freeman himself, or simply an apprentice who did his full indenture with a freeman?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,
I am not sure this will answer your question, but I remember when my husband did his apprenticeship he also had to sit City and Guild exams.

I found this site http://www.history.ac.uk/gh/livdet.html

I googled Freeman Apprentice Scotland

Hi Chris (and Wini),

I've amended the link. It should work for you now.

All the best,
